MANCHESTER — The Lebanon High boys basketball team trailed by nine at the half, but rallied on Thursday afternoon to pick up a 53-42 victory over Salem in the opening round of the Queen City Invitational at Manchester Memorial.
Jon Willeman scored 21 points, Jackson Stone added seven and in total 10 Raiders scored.
“We were able to play a lot faster,” Lebanon coach Kieth Matte said of Lebanon’s second-half performance. “We got to play our pace and pulled away. We did a great job of sharing the ball.”
The Raiders play Friday in the semifinals against Exeter. The Blue Hawks have won 22 consecutive NHIAA contests.
MANCHESTER — Despite a goal late in the third period, the Marauders fell in their first game of the Brian C. Stone Memorial Tournament at JFK Coliseum.
With a minute to play, Tono Correa scored on an assist from Rowan Wilson and Brendan Brigham.
Bedford scored in the first period and midway through the third to take a 2-0 lead.
“We got stronger as the game went on,” Hanover coach Dick Dodds said. “But we got off to slow start and upped the shooting anti in the second and third.”
The Marauders took 34 shots in the game; 27 came in the last two periods.
Ben Plottner made 19 saves in net for Hanover, which faces Trinity on Friday in its second game of the tournament.
They return to NHIAA action on Jan. 4 when Bishop Brady visits Campion.
