NEWBURY, VT — Gloria Fox, 84, a long-time resident of Bradford, who recently moved to Newbury, died Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born in Groton, MA on March 18, 1935 to Kenneth and Gladys (Johnson) Goodwin.
On December 13, 1969 she married Richard F. Fox and in 1973 they moved from Hanson, MA to Bradford. Together, they owned and operated the Bradford Mini-Mart from 1973-1983. Gloria worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for Fox Associates, also in Bradford. An active member of the community, Gloria started Upper Valley Services. She was a member and treasurer of the Bradford United Church of Christ. Gloria was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bradford Fair Association, and the Upper Valley BoomBa’s. She was an ardent supporter of the New England sports teams…the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins…and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Along with Richard, she enjoyed camping and traveling and would work at various campgrounds during the summers.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Fox on July 4, 2002; a son, Ricky Fox on March 5, 1971; a sister, Marjorie Mosely; and two brothers, Arthur and Sonny Goodwin.
She is survived by three children, Susan Corliss and companion Richard Wheeler of Newbury, VT, Cindy Perry and husband Alson of Bradford, and David Fox and June Austin of Newbury; a step daughter, Dawn Fox; nine grandchildren, Tricia Johnson and companion Moses Delphia, Milo Corliss, Bridget Simmons and husband Richie, Travis Perry and companion Pam Dube, David Fox II and husband Billy Fox, Rich Phelps and wife Lissa, Heather Fox and fiance Dylan, Cassie Giroux and companion Roland Norton, and Keith Farnsworth and companion Jade; eighteen great grandchildren, Zachary Lang, Dimitri Nanopoulos and wife Alannah, Nina Nanopoulos, Cole Nanopoulos, Mariah Corliss, Breanna Corliss, Cooper Simmons, Charles Simmons, Sara Walker, Rachel Spear, Natalee Spear, Carter Phelps, Nyome Athorne, Bailey Athorne, Ethan Jones, Emmaleigh Giroux, Emmett Norton, and Jakobe Farnsworth; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be on Friday, December 27th from 5:30-7:30 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 11 AM in the Bradford United Church of Christ with Pastor Jeff Long-Middleton, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sawyer Cemetery, Bradford.
