CLAREMONT — Hartford’s Cean Lieberman, a sophomore, set a Vermont state record with a two-game score of 522, while Windsor came out on top of a four-school bowling match at Maple Lanes on Saturday.

In the Baker matches, Windsor swept Springfield and Brattleboro in their best-of-three encounters to win the tournament. Hartford lost in the first round to Brattleboro but beat Springfield in the consolation match.

Windsor rolled a team 1,698 in qualifying to earn the top seed in Baker play. Hartford, with Lieberman leading the way, rolled a team 1,464 for second seed.

Windsor’s Grayson Frazer was his team’s top scorer with 404 in qualifying, followed by Brayton Bailey (370) and Rayce Gilbert (363).

“I was really happy with the team,” Windsor coach Steve Bly said. “We struggled to make spares earlier but worked on that, and it was reflected in the scores.”

WEST LEBANON — The Raiders squandered a 30-save effort from newcomer Toby Cromwell, a sophomore with superb rebound control who has taken over as the team’s starting netminder.

Gage Gagne popped in the winning tally out of a goalmouth scramble 2:22 into overtime. The referees waved off Lebanon’s protests that Cam Frank assisted via a hand pass.

“We deserved a better fate because our guys played their hearts out,” said Lebanon coach Jim Damren, whose team is 1-1-0 and visits Goffstown on Monday. “Toby was unbelievably good today.”

Lebanon’s Jon Cloud opened the scoring midway through the first period off a Luke Greene pass. Andrew Duany put the hosts up, 2-0, off feeds from Greene and Griffin Auch, but the Bearcats answered 34 seconds later.

The Raiders killed off nearly seven consecutive minutes of third-period penalties after Will McGee was whistled for tripping and Duany for boarding. The effort appeared to wear them down, however, and the Bearcats scored with fewer than two minutes remaining in the third period to force extra time.
