NEWPORT — A 32-year-old Unity woman who allegedly led police on a nearly 80 mph chase through Newport before crashing onto an abandoned property was indicted on two counts of felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon last week.

Ashley Follensbee is currently out on bail following the early morning incident on Nov. 3 in Newport. According to a Newport police, Officer Dakota Titorenko was patrolling the Circle K on the corner of Main Street and Route 103 around 1:30 a.m. when he encountered Follensbee acting suspiciously in a car and ordered her out of the vehicle.

Instead, she put it into reverse, forcing Titorenko to “quickly sprint out of the way of the vehicle as she sped backward,” according to the affidavit. She left the parking lot and wove north through Newport, hitting 60 mph and then going over 78 mph as she drove up Belknap Avenue onto Pine Street, the affidavit said. When she reached Greenwood Road, Follensbee turned the car into an abandoned property, driving over logs that barricaded the property’s driveway and crashing into the wood line before fleeing on foot, police said.

The officer ran after Follensbee and wrestled her to the ground before taking her into custody.  As part of the bail order, Follensbee is not allowed to travel outside of New Hampshire and must return to court on Dec. 12 for a dispositional conference.
