LYME, NH — Anne DeGoosh left this world Thursday morning November 21, 2019. Anne was born to Howard and Nettie DeGoosh on September 16, 1925 – the fourth of thirteen children. Anne is survived by her four children Carl (Vera) Carter of Lyme, NH; David Carter of West Seneca, NY, Roxanne Larocque (Jason) of Peacham, VT, Karen/KC (Bob) Mills; ten grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren; her sister Sue (Lin) Alexander of New York and her sister Nancy (Dean) Radtke and brother John DeGoosh of Nevada. She was predeceased by her grandson John Carter, great grandson Bryce and her brothers and sisters; Colburn DeGoosh, Richard DeGoosh, Ellsworth DeGoosh, Mary Wing, Jane Cramer, Kent DeGoosh, Howard DeGoosh, Nettie Ackerman and David DeGoosh.
Anne attended Lyme Schools through the eighth grade and received her high school diploma from Orford High School. On July 31st, 1946 she married Roscoe Carter.
We can tell you about the different places Mom worked, but we think she would rather we tell you about what really counted in her life. Her family and friends, receiving the new name “Meme” soon after her first grandchild was born, sewing, bird watching, gardening, giving two dollar bills as birthday gifts and ladybugs!
Anne loved to sew. She made clothing for her children and grandchildren, and will always be remembered for the many Raggedy Ann’s and Andy’s that she made. Anne also enjoyed cooking and baking. Her family remembers the many yummy meals she cooked and some of their favorites were her Parker House rolls, chocolate cakes, chocolate chip cookies, pineapple cookies and pies. Anne loved living in the country. She and Roscoe loved to garden. Those gardens helped feed their family for many years with fresh vegetables, as well as the hard work they did freezing and canning.
A great supporter of her children’s activities, Anne did her best to attend Carl’s and David’s basketball and soccer games, Roxanne’s sewing entries in the 4-H shows, and Karen’s field hockey, basketball and softball games and Ford Sayre ski competitions at the Dartmouth Skiway.
Anne was a member of the AA (her chosen family) for 44 years. Anne was devoted to helping those stricken with this disease find the solution that she was blessed to find. Anne was grateful for the many AA members who helped her and in turn she was always ready to help others.
Anne’s last five years became a struggle by the advancing illness of dementia. Her son Carl and daughter-in-law Vera provided a home for Anne until the illness required additional care and at that time Anne made her home at the Margaret Pratt Community in Bradford, Vermont. Anne’s family is very grateful to her doctors at DHMC and the caregivers at Margaret Pratt Community for all they did to help Anne.
Anne’s family is blessed knowing that Anne is with her Lord. A celebration of Anne’s life will be held in the spring of 2020. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Pearl Dimick Fund, PO Box 292, Lyme NH 03768.
