The impeachment probe is a farce

Though I’m far from being a fan of President Donald Trump, it couldn’t be more apparent to me that the impeachment imbroglio is a gigantic farce. The pending proceedings are based on information stumbled upon during a fishing expedition masquerading as an investigation into an unrelated matter. That actual disinformation provided by the Russians was intentionally used to prompt a lengthy and costly investigation is nothing if not a testament to the Democrats’ fealty to the double standard and undying belief that the end justifies the means.

The premise behind the above, that Vladimir Putin might experience one iota of apprehension at the prospect of Hillary Clinton’s election, is laughable given the fact that neither Clinton nor any other member of the Obama administration ever inconvenienced him in the least. Quite the contrary, in fact. Putin’s obvious goal was to impugn the integrity of the 2016 election regardless of its outcome while fanning the flames of our prevailing political discord, an objective which was and continues to be realized with the enthusiastic and untiring assistance of the Democrats. The ease with which Putin managed to secure their eager cooperation is eerily reminiscent of the days when they did yeoman service as the “useful idiots” (i.e. stooges) of their beloved Uncle Joe. Stalin, I mean, not Biden.

Cory Booker ready to unite America

After I saw him captivate a packed, 500-person crowd at Dartmouth College with his message of uniting our party and our country, to me, one thing was clear: U.S. Sen. Cory Booker is the best candidate to take on President Donald Trump and heal our country. That’s why I’m proud to endorse and support him in this race — and I urge readers to do the same.

Booker impressed in the last debate by keeping his eye on the prize — coming together to win in November 2020, and not using Republican talking points to attack other candidates. But he knows that beating Trump is the floor, not the ceiling, of what’s possible for our party and our nation. This election is about more than taking on one man — it’s about fixing what’s broken in our country and restoring civility in our public discourse.

A leader does that by uniting Americans with a sense of common purpose — something Booker has done his entire life. From his helping pass bipartisan criminal justice reform legislation under the current administration to his revitalization of Newark as mayor, Booker has spent his entire career bringing people together to do the things that others thought were impossible.

Booker has a plan to ensure that rural communities, including mine, are places where real economic opportunity can be found. Booker believes that no one should have to leave home to find economic opportunity in America.

I’m ready to help Cory Booker win the New Hampshire primary and become our nominee. It’s time we join together, rise above our current division and discord, and make justice and opportunity real for every Granite Stater. I hope you’ll join me.

Help save ANWR

The Trump administration and Big Oil (Chevron, Exxon Mobil, CocncoPhillips) are moving forward to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This means these conglomerates will be looking to lease land for oil and gas exploration and extraction. Not only will this impact the indigenous people who live there, but the millions of birds, fish and other wildlife that rely on this magnificent wilderness. You can add your name now to demand protection of the refuge at www.arcticrefugedefense.org.

Locally, there will be an event at Howe Library in Hanover, on Nov. 21, from 7-8 p.m. Two short documentaries will be shown, and then the floor will be open to questions. There will also be a panel of speakers who can address this important issue from a number of different perspectives.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what we can do as a group and individually — writing your own letters and just spreading the knowledge of what can happen to this precious and scared place.

Let’s spread the word and take action.
