Should Emma Mulloy decide to pursue soccer when she’s older, she’ll have a base of experience upon which to fall. For the time being, the members of the Windsor High boys soccer team make sure she doesn’t fall at all.
Emma, 2, is the daughter of Windsor coach Steve Mulloy, who also teaches
high school history. His wife, Lee, works as well, which can make caring for Emma challenging.
Instead, Emma can be found at most every Windsor practice. Her day care is a short walk from the school, Steve Mulloy said, so he can pick her up when classes end and still be back to MacLeay-Royce Field in time to put the Yellowjackets through their paces.
The players have taken to having Emma around, occasionally picking her up and moving her to safer places should she get too close to the action.
“She’s at that age where she is just old enough to run around a little on her own,” Mulloy said. “The boys have gotten very attached to her and engage with her. At this point, it’s normal for her to be here.”
