WOODSTOCK — The Hurricanes (7-5-0) avenged a last-second defeat to the Wasps (5-6-1) from 2½ weeks ago on Eleanor Hinckley’s goal with a minute left in the opening half.

Abbie Koff quickly took a free kick 40 yards from the Woodstock net to set the score into motion. Hinckely settled the pass, maneuvered around a defending a slid a shot past goalkeeper Emma Tarleton.

Hartford coach Jeff Acker credited Tarleton for her play. “She played great, kept them in the game,” Acker said. “She had several highlight saves. We were knocking on the door all night.”

Erin Thompson had an eight-save shutout for the Canes, who host Otter Valley on Tuesday night.

Woodstock visits Mount Anthony on Wednesday.
