GRAFTON, NH — Madeline N Evans, 90 years old, passed away at here home in Grafton NH on September 20, 2019. Madeline was born in Enfield, NH, the daughter of Alvy and Lena (Bill) Wheeler.
She grew up in the Enfield area and was married to Robert N. Clough on March 8th 1947 and they spent forty years in the Enfield area together until his death, raising eight children. During her years in Enfield, Madeline spent years working at the Baltic Mill, Split Ball Bearing and retired from The Hanover Terrace. Madeline was, during her years in Enfield, a member of the Montcalm Grange.
Madeline remarried on September 22nd 1990 to Fred Evans and they enjoyed nearly 29 happy years with one another until her death, living and travelling to many places around the country, Madeline and Fred spent years living in Montana, Arizona, Washington, Florida and eventually chose to settle back down in Croyden and Grafton New Hampshire during their retired years.
Madeline loved sports and rarely missed a chance to watch the Red Sox or Patriots, often cheering the loudest. She loved reading, playing games, enjoyed crocheting and dearly loved animals. She was always the first person to greet you with a cheerful hello and a smile when you walked in the door. Madeline was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Madeline was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother and was predeceased by her first husband Robert Clough. Madeline is survived by her husband Fred Evans, her daughters Kathleen Perrin of Canaan NH, Diane Hagar of Lebanon NH, Betty Waddell of Springfield NH, her sons Robert Clough of The Villages FL, Wendall Clough of Grafton NH, Frank Clough of Grafton NH, Michael Clough of Claremont NH, and William Clough of Tallahassee FL as well as by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Madeline’s favorite flowers were carnations, in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Upper Valley Humane Society.
Per Madeline’s wishes, a service will be held at the Enfield Methodist Church on October 5th, 2019 at 11 AM. There will be a gathering to be announced later.
