BROWNSVILLE, VT — Susan Pauline Ober, born July 26, 1945 in Boston, MA to Pauline McClelland Doyle and Harold Bertram Doyle. She attended the public schools of Belmont, MA, and was the class of 1963 at Belmont High School. Susan knew very early on that she wanted to be a teacher, so she graduated from Lowell State College in 1967. She taught 3rd grade for two years, in Billerica, MA, before marrying the awesome love of her life of fifty years, Charles (Chuck) Walter Ober July 5, 1969. Susan leaves behind Chuck, a son Chad Ober, a daughter in-in-law Lisa Ober, daughter Erin Lyn, son-in-law Vincent Giffin, two of the best grandsons in the whole world, Zakkary Charles & Zander Alan, and her third “adopted” grandson Joe LaBounty of Yakima, Washington. She also leaves behind a wonderful brother, Richard Doyle and wife Eileen Doyle, brother-in-law Peter Ober and sister in-law in her heart, Margaret Ober. Susan also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who live far away but always close to her heart.
Susan loved being a wife, mother, and teacher. She was very dedicated to her family and teaching in Claremont, having great success in changing the lives of those she taught. In between, Susan was also active in many volunteer organizations, and would always say “yes” when she was called upon. For the last 10 years, she started a bone builders’ group in Brownsville, and was talked into substitute teaching in Claremont, passionate and loving about both. Susan loved reading, traveling, and writing homemade notes to her many awesome family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her amazing grandsons.
Susan always felt blessed to have such a good life and was a person who liked to “pay it forward”. In her memory, she hopes folks will be kind to one another, make at least one person a day smile, and do something to help another human being feel better. Per Susan’s wishes, there will be a private family service.
