WEATHERSFIELD — Vermont State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 91 in which a man lying in the roadway was struck by a vehicle that drove away from the scene.
The crash in Weathersfield around 12:50 a.m. Sunday killed 22-year-old Keanan Thompson of Stockbridge, Vt. Police say the investigation has revealed that Thompson was driving south on the interstate when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed. They say they believe Thompson was ejected from his vehicle during the crash and landed in the roadway.
Police say people at the scene were about to provide aid, but a vehicle drove through the crash scene and struck Thompson without stopping. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they are working to determine the operator of the vehicle that struck Thompson. Police said it is believed to have been a gray sedan, and that it may now have damage to its front bumper.
