SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Springfield High School and the River Valley Technical Center went into lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a student wrote a threatening note and left it in a bathroom, school officials said in a news release.
School administrators learned of a note that “threatened the school community” after it was found in a restroom in the Howard Dean Education Center complex, prompting them to lock down the schools.
School officials notified the Springfield Police Department, which responded along with officers from several other departments.
Police and school officials identified the student, who admitted to writing the note as a prank, according to the release, which was circulated by Superintendent Zach McLaughlin. The student was not named in the release.
“School officials will be working through their disciplinary procedures in regards to the event,” the release said.
