EDMONDS, WA — Marion Ellen (Sharkey) Coutermarsh, 85, passed away on August 30, 2019, after a long struggle with heart complications. She was born to Alice (Dunham) and Archie Sharkey in Lebanon on March 28, 1934. She grew up in the Upper Valley with her first job at the Heel Factory in the mid-1950’s, then worked furiously through the mid-70’s at most restaurants in the Upper Valley to raise her six children. She then worked at and gained tenure at Dartmouth Medical School, retiring as a Supervisor at Dick’s House. She and Don moved to Florida and Washington, respectively, to be with family. Prior to her ailments she enjoyed sewing, knitting, seasonal camping and was an avid Bingo player, winning often. She remained quick-witted, sharp and humorous while her body was failing. We miss her.

Marion is predeceased by her parents; her brother Donald Sharkey (Enfield); her sons Harold “Mac” MacElman and John D. MacElman. She is survived by her devoted husband Donald Paul Coutermarsh; daughters Brenda (MacElman), Clark, FL and Sherry Rhodes, WA; son Lee Coutermarsh, WA; daughter Kelly (Coutermarsh) VonDohlen, CA; sister Margo (Sharkey) Bean, NH; ten grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
