WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A 26-year-old Quechee man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to one count of aggravated domestic assault after choking his ex-girlfriend and leaving her unconscious on a trail near the White River in Sharon late last year.
Windsor Superior Court Judge Timothy Tomasi deferred on accepting the plea pending a pre-sentencing report, and Matthew Nilsson remains held in prison.
Under the plea deal, Nilsson could face 18 months to 12 years in prison, with one year likely behind bars followed by six months of house arrest in Cambridge, Vt.
His victim, Emma Seaver, survived the Dec. 29, 2018, attack and delivered a victim impact statement in court.
