SPRINGFIELD, NH — Ruth O. Lee (Hills) passed away at her daughter’s home on August 15, 2019 after a long, courageous fight to recover from injuries resulting from a fall. She was born June 11, 1926 in Windsor, VT to Arthur E. Hills and Alice Kimball Hills. She married the love of her life Fred L. Lee on August 23, 1943, and they enjoyed 64 years together until his passing in November 2008. Ruth was predeceased by her oldest son Gary T. Lee in 2005. She was also predeceased by her sister Edna Merrill, and 4 brothers, Arthur Hills Jr., Richard Hills, Robert Hills, Donald Hills and a grandson, Jesse R. Lee. She is survived by two sons, Richard F. Lee and his wife Laurie, Alan D. Lee and his wife Sheila, a daughter, Sharon A. Lee and her husband Charlie Ives and daughter-in-law Linda Lee. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, 2 sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

Ruthie was a devoted member of Grantham United Methodist Church for several years and has many dear friends there.

She was a loving, sweet, kind, wise and generous woman, loved by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed family, friends, traveling, camping, crocheting, painting and playing games on her tablet, and especially her beloved dogs, Baxter and Cooper Lee. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Ruthie was a former member of the church choir.

A memorial service will be held August 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at Lake Sunapee Baptist Church, 314 Sunapee Street, Newport, NH. There will be no calling hours.
