BRADFORD, Vt. — Firefighters say five people, including two children, have been displaced by a house fire in Bradford.
The Bradford Fire Department received a report for the fire at 240 S. Pleasant St. a little before 4 a.m. Wednesday, prompting a large response from mutual aid agencies.
There were no injuries, but two pets — a dog and a cat — died in the blaze, Bradford Fire Chief Ryan Terrill said.
The home was once a barn that had been retrofitted into a living facility. The changes left a lot of hidden pockets where the fire could reach, according to Terrill.
The cause of the fire, which reached a fifth alarm, remains under investigation. It is not considered suspicious, Terrill said.
The home is owned by Tina Taylor, the chief said. A relative of hers was living in the home at the time of the blaze.
