WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Upper Valley Nighthawks starting pitcher Jordan DiValerio, relief pitcher Aaron Haase and infielder Cole Frederick all landed on the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s all-star first team on Monday.

DiValerio (St. Joseph’s), a two-time participant in the NECBL All-Star Game, went 3-2 in seven starts for Upper Valley, ranking fifth among starters with a 2.50 earned-run average. The right-handed DiValerio also ranked fifth in strikeouts (48) and allowed just 11 earned runs over 39⅔ innings.

Haase (Wichita State) quickly developed into the Nighthawks’ closer, ultimately leading the league with nine saves. The right-hander posted a 2.61 ERA over 20⅔ innings, while his 40 strikeouts left him averaging nearly two every inning he threw.

Selected as the league’s first-team third baseman, Frederick (Jacksonville State) led the NECBL with a .396 batting average, 20 points better than his closest competitor. He also topped the league with 61 hits, tied for fifth in the league with 38 RBIs and shared seventh place with eight home runs.

Upper Valley and the Mystic Schooners led the NECBL with three first-team selections apiece. The Schooners added two second-teamers, giving them a league-best five selections. The league will being announcing its year-end awards on Tuesday, with the NECBL’s most valuable player to be announced on Wednesday.
