ENFIELD, NH — Doris J. Hamel, 88, of Enfield, NH, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative Care following complications from Parkinson’s Disease. She was born at home on Dulac Street in Lebanon, NH January 28, 1931 to Paul Archambeault and Mildred (Dexter) Hazelton. Doris worked at Tip Top Bakery and was Union Secretary 1963-66. She retired as an Office Manager from Burlington Coat Factory after 27 years at the age of 68.
Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and when able, traveling the U.S., reading (especially mysteries), and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved her two cats, Rascal and Bubba. Doris was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
Doris is survived by her sons, Stephen (Deann) Hamel of Orford, NH, Paul (Dorothy) Hamel of Springfield, NH, Michael Hamel of West Lebanon, NH, Joseph Hamel of Lebanon, NH, and Thomas Hamel of Enfield, NH; and daughters, Theresa Salls of Enfield, NH and Kathy Clark of Hartland, VT. She was also blessed with 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her son, David Hamel in 1974, sister, Georgine, and brothers, Joseph and Hollis.
A Catholic burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 9, 2019 at Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be no Calling Hours. Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon, NH is assisting her family.
