CLAREMONT, NH — It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen C. Whitney of Claremont, NH announces his passing on July 7, 2019, after a long and courageous battle against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 60 years.

Steve was known for his wry sense of humor and contagious laugh. He was a great patriot and supporter of the Second Amendment. He was a devoted father, brother, son and uncle. His Christian faith was central in his life. He served with a warm smile at Riverbank Church in Claremont, NH every Sunday despite his chemo treatments.

Steve graduated from Franklin Pierce University with a Bachelors of Science degree. He was a jack of all trades. At various times in his life he was a cross country trucker, a ranch hand, carpenter, respiratory therapist and financial advisor.

He was passionate about his family, motorcycle riding, target shooting, music and his faith. His dogs, Annie and Maggie will miss their weekly McDonald’s french fry runs.

Steve’s last few weeks were full of love, laughter, and family connection. His room at the Jack Byrne Center was never empty.

The family would like to express their immeasurable gratitude for the care given to Steve by the staff of DHMC, NCCC, Jack Byrne Center and the members of Riverbank Church..

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on August 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Riverbank Church 259 Holiday Drive, White River Junction, Vermont.

Steve is survived by his daughters Tess and Regan Whitney of Claremont, NH, father Lowell Whitney of Gardner Massachusetts, sisters Rachel Wehmeyer and Lisa Whitney, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and dear friends. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Getchell Whitney and niece Nadine Whitney.
