RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY — Wayne Roger Leonard, 70, passed away on 15 July 2019, at his home in Kentucky, surrounded by family.

Born on December 15, 1948 in Windsor, VT, he was the youngest of four children of Roger and Shirley Leonard of Charlestown, NH.

On June 21, 1969 in Ascutney, VT Wayne and Darlene (Gray) were married and started a family. In 1971 their first son Ernie Wayne Leonard was born, then in 1981 came their second son Benjamin Roger Leonard. They were longtime residents of Ascutney, VT.

Starting at a young age Wayne was attracted to anything with a motor and wheels. He started his career operating a dump truck for his father’s company, Leonard Trucking. That sparked a career of over 50 years driving commercial trucks all over the country.

In Wayne’s free time he was either volunteering with the New Hampshire Antique Tractor Club, showing and pulling his old tractors in the Cornish Fair or hauling his camper around the country camping and making memories with his family or watching the NASCAR race.

Wayne is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 50 years, Darlene Rose (Gray) Leonard, their two sons, Ernie and Benjamin Leonard, their spouses Grace and Keriann, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother Oliver Leonard and many friends.

Wayne was predeceased by his two sisters, Mary Howard and Shirley (Sue) Leonard.

There will be a graveside service on August 10, 2019 at Child Cemetery, Connecticut Valley Highway, Cornish, NH 03745 at 11:00 am. A reception to honor Wayne’s life will follow at the Cornish Grange Hall.
