WEST LEBANON — No one was injured and minor damage was reported following a small fire at Cantore’s Pizza on Monday morning.
Vinnie Cantore, the owner of the West Lebanon eatery on Route 12A, said he believes a food processor or hand mixer shorted out and started the fire, which in turn melted a plastic water pipe.
Lebanon Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Libbey said his department responded around 9:10 a.m. for a reported fire. He said a water pipe had burst and damaged an electrical panel. The situation was brought under control quickly, he said.
Cantore called the affected area “really isolated.” No other neighboring businesses were impacted, but the pizza place will be closed for a few days, the owner said.
“Without the plastic smell, you would think everything is fine,” he said.
ServPro, a fire and water cleanup and restoration business, will clean the restaurant. While that takes place, the pizza shop will be closed, but Cantore said he hopes to reopen by Thursday.
He called the situation a “minor setback,” and vowed to be back making pizzas as soon as possible.
Cantore has had to cancel at least one large pizza order, but because he has another nearby restaurant — Cantore’s Crossroads Cafe in White River Junction — he is able to fulfill a large catering order.
