VERSHIRE, VT — Earl A. Rogers, 84 died on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his home in Vershire, VT. Earl passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the home he built as the birds sang in the yard.
He was born on March 24, 1935 in Vershire, VT the son of Allen and Madeline (Magoon) Rogers. He attended school in Vershire, VT and later Thetford, VT where he graduated in 1953 from Thetford Academy.
On April 21, 1956 he married Janet Towle. They lived in Post Mills, VT where they raised their four children and they were later divorced.
In his early years, Earl worked with his Father logging and later at the Elizabeth Copper Mines in Strafford, VT. For many years he worked as a carpenter before retiring in 2009.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, talking with friends and telling stories. He was an avid dowser and Bee keeper. He served as a selectman for the Town of Vershire.
He is survived by a son, Allen Rogers and his wife, Karen of Plainfield, NH; two daughters, Bonnie Rogers of Fairlee, VT and Rhonda Terrill and her husband, Todd of Bradford, VT; a daughter-in-law, Rose Rogers of Enfield, NH; 7 grandchildren, Bronwyn, Tabitha, Ezra, Christopher, Keagon, Ryan and Sierra; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce McCarthy of Bradford, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Earl is also survived by his longtime companion and friend, Cindy Hoyt of Vershire, VT. Cindy and Earl spent many hours playing cards and fishing together. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Rogers; two grandchildren, Jason Parker and Jasmine Rogers and two sisters, Virginia Oakes and Sally Josler.
There will be no public calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the Post Mills Cemetery in Post Mills, VT at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be announced at a later date.
