NORTH HAVERHILL — A verdict is expected on Friday in the trial of the son and daughter-in-law of the co-founder of Project VetCare, who are accused of receiving stolen property from the organization
Danielle Goodwin, 48, of Hanover, allegedly wrote checks out of Project VetCare’s account to Alexander Donahue, 27, and Sarah Healy Donahue, 28, who cashed them, according to the indictments. They have pleaded not guilty.
Alexander Donahue faces three felonies: two counts of theft by unauthorized taking and one count of receiving stolen property. Sarah Healy Donahue faces two counts: theft by unauthorized taking and receiving stolen property.
Their joint trial started on Tuesday in Grafton Superior Court in North Haverhill and is slated to run through Friday. The Donahues are residents of North Carolina.
According to the indictments, Alexander Donahue received a check for almost $5,000 drawn on the Project VetCare account, and his wife received a check for just over $7,000, also on Project VetCare’s account.
In August 2018, Goodwin pleaded guilty to stealing from the organization that helped Upper Valley veterans and was sentenced to 3½ to seven years in prison.
