ORFORD — Orford officials will hold a special Town Meeting next month to ratify the results from Town Meeting in March.
Orford Selectboard Chairman John Adams said the town made “a minor procedural error” when posting the annual meeting, so a special meeting is necessary to validate the results.
The error came when a town official forgot to post a form containing financial information with the warrant. Residents had the necessary information in their annual reports, so “citizens were able to make an informed decision” on financial matters, Adams said.
The New Hampshire Department of Revenue Adjustment recently notified the town of the error.
The special Town Meeting will have only one article, “to ratify the results of the March 12” meeting.
No amendments are allowed; it will be a “yes or no” vote, Adams said. No changes to the results of the annual meeting can be made, he added. The vote will have no effect on the election results.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on May 1 in the Rivendell Academy gymnasium.
