Hartland, Vt., resident Allan Cowdrey was displaced following a fire in his Route 12 home in Hartland, Vt., on March 7, 2019. Cowdrey said his pipes had frozen and was thawing them with a hair dryer. He later saw smoke and did what he could with a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived on the scene. Fire officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined and no one was injured.
