Town Meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at the West Fairlee Community Building. Voting by Australian ballot for town officers and the 2019 budget will take place on Tuesday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the same location.
WEST FAIRLEE — Voters are being asked to approve a $616,566 town budget, a 4 percent increase over the amount approved last year.
The amount to be raised in taxes, not counting warned appropriations, would increase by $21,000, or 4.5 percent, to $494,131.
One article on the warning asks for permission to borrow up to $45,000 over four years to construct a backup water purification for the Community Building, which is considered a public water supply. Although the water source there has never had a “bad” test, West Fairlee is required to create a backup system, according to the Selectboard report for fiscal year 2018.
In ballot voting, the terms of Selectboard members Fred Cook and Al Pfeiffer are up. No candidates filed for the seats.
