Town Meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, in Town Hall.
BARNARD — Voters will be asked to approve a $1.25 million highway budget and an $822,000 general fund budget, which together mark about a $250,000 increase in spending.
Town officials also are proposing to create a dedicated paving/resurfacing fund, seeded with $243,000 that would come, in part, from transfers from the fiscal year 2019 and fiscal year 2020 highway budget and from a $92,891 “Irene closeout payment” the town received in September as reimbursement from FEMA related to Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.
Town officers are elected from the floor. One Selectboard position is open, and Selectman Tim Johnson has said he plans to run again.
On the school side, the proposed Barnard Academy School District budget totals $1.3 million, or education spending of $16,991 per equalized pupil, a 0.65 percent increase over the current school year.
