CHELSEA, VT — Martha Ann Adams, 82 died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT.

She was born September 30, 1936 in Barre, VT the daughter of Walter and Vera (Hill) Lyon. She attended school in Chelsea, VT, graduating in 1954 from Chelsea High School.

On December 26, 1955 she married Richard “Dick” Adams of Bethel, VT. They lived most of their married life in Chelsea. The last two years they have lived with their son in Tunbridge, VT.

Martha had worked at Channel Mills in Bradford, VT for seven years, Merrimaids in Chelsea for six years, Anichini in Tunbridge for over twenty years. She also sewed doll clothes for many years. She retired five years ago.

She was a past member of the Eastern Star in Chelsea, 4-H Club and a lifetime member of the Canadian Club in Barre, VT. She enjoyed country music, camping, dancing and making donuts for her great granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard Adams of Tunbridge, a daughter Sharon Butler and her husband Brian of Bethel, VT, a son Dwayne “Whitey” Adams and his wife Shelley of Tunbridge, VT, four grandchildren Alan Butler, Brandi Lambert and her husband Sam and great granddaughter Claire Lambert all of Randolph, VT, Ryan Adams of Bethel, VT, Laurel Adams of Topsham, VT, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers Frank Lyon, Richard Lyon, and Lawrence “Lad” Lyon, and two sisters Donna Melvin and Joanne Hodge.

Private services will be held at the family’s convenience. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Chelsea, VT.
