NEWPORT, N.H. — A 29-year-old Claremont man pleaded guilty on Friday to shooting and wounding a man in October on High Street in Claremont.

Terrell Watson shot Edward Boisvert, 36, of Claremont, in the neck over a dispute involving their romantic partners, Sullivan County Attorney Marc Hathaway said during Watson’s plea hearing in Sullivan Superior Court.

Boisvert suffered serious injuries but is recovering.

Watson entered guilty pleas to first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Watson won’t be sentenced until early March, but Hathaway outlined the parameters of a negotiated agreement on Friday in the Newport courthouse.

If Watson accepts the deal next month, he will serve five years in New Hampshire State Prison. His formal sentences would be 7½ to 15 years on the assault charges, and a second suspended sentence of the same length on the possession charge. He remains incarcerated at this time.

The case unfolded on Oct. 2, when Watson fired a shot at Boisvert in broad daylight in a Claremont neighborhood and fled the area.

Boisvert made his way to the Golden Cross Ambulance building on Lincoln Heights and was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Witnesses provided information to police after the shooting that led them to Watson.

Officers arrested Watson the following day in Newport and charged him with several felonies, including assault, possessing controlled drugs and theft by unauthorized taking.

The investigation into the shooting prompted police to execute a search warrant at a Charlestown mobile home park, which drew a large local and state police response that included the SWAT team. At the time, police thought he might be there.

Watson has two other cases pending in New Hampshire, including one in Sullivan County and one in Grafton County. Both are drug related, according to court documents. Hathaway said prosecutors are working toward resolutions in those cases.

All other charges Watson faced in the felony assault case were dismissed.

Watson will be sentenced at 1 p.m. on March 6 in the Newport, courthouse.
