SOUTH ROYALTON — The White River Valley boys basketball team withstood a fourth-quarter charge by visiting Rivendell to win, 47-45, in overtime on Friday night.

The Wildcats led, 36-29, through three quarters before the Raptors closed regulation on a 13-6 run to tie the game and force overtime. The Wildcats regrouped in the extra session to get the win.

“I’m proud of the kids. They showed a lot of character and poise down the stretch. We’re growing up,” White River Valley coach Mike Gaudette said. “Rivendell is much improved. This was a really good high school basketball game tonight.”

Troy Walker had a game-high 20 points for the Wildcats. Dominic Craven and Zeb Perrault each added seven points.

Zach Gould (12 points) and Luke Senn (11) led the attack for Rivendell.

The Wildcats visit Hazen on Monday. Rivendell visits Blue Mountain on Wednesday.

HANOVER — The Marauders’ efforts to get to the free-throw line bore fruit with a 15-for-21 performance at the charity stripe to break a three-game losing streak.

The Marauders (8-5, 9-6) trailed at the half, 26-25, and used their aggressive approach to offense to turn the tide. Nolan Gantrish led the way with 17 points, Charlie Adams had 12 and Jeffrey Holt provided 10. Hanover also helped its cause by committing just four turnovers in the second half.

Hanover visits Kennett on Friday.

Woodsville 67Pittsburg-Canaan 42

PITTSBURG, N.H. — With several Engineers battling foul trouble, Michael Maccini came off the bench to score 14 points and send Woodsville (9-4, 9-6) to a win.

Brendan Walker canned five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 17 points for the visitors. Two other Engineers joined Maccini and Walker in the double-digit department, as Billy Green netted 15 points and Conner Maccini contributed 10.

The Engineers host Lin-Wood on Saturday.

Woodstock 72Springfield 56

WOODSTOCK — A quartet of double-digit scorers helped the Wasps eclipse the Cosmos.

Charlie Amato led the way with 16 points for Woodstock. Harrison Morse added 15, Gabe Marsicovetere had 12 and Ryan Ducharme finished with 10 points.

Woodstock visits rival Windsor on Tuesday.

U-32 81, Oxbow 35

BRADFORD, Vt. — The Olympians couldn’t keep pace with the Solons, dropping to 8-7 on the season.

Matt Emerson had 13 points for Oxbow. Seth Carson added eight points. Oxbow visits Thetford on Wednesday.

Pembroke 46, Lebanon 45

LEBANON — The Raiders (7-5, 9-6) came within seconds of upsetting one of the top teams in NHIAA Division II, only to have a win ripped out of their grasp on a late steal.

Lebanon held a one-point lead with 27 seconds left and went into a stall to milk the clock. The top-ranked Spartans (12-1) jumped a pass, with the interception feeding Jack Lehoullier’s layup with 1 second to go for the win. It was Lehoullier’s only hoop of the night.

Noah Cummings paced Pembroke with 26 points, followed by 10 from Tim Pittman. Jon Willeman hit for a team-best 21 points for Lebanon, with Wade Rainey offering 10 in support.

Lebanon vists Pelham on Tuesday.

Farmington 40Mount Royal 33

SUNAPEE — The Knights fell at home on senior night.

Louis Larosiliere led the way for Mount Royal (7-9) with 10 points. Blaise Edwards and Philip Dahlberg each had six points. The Knights led, 8-2, after the first quarter but Farmington answered with a 13-4 run in the second and then closed with 17 points in the fourth to get the win.

Mount Royal visits Hinsdale on Monday.

Gilford 72, Mascoma 55

WEST CANAAN — The Royals (7-7) came up short against the Golden Eagles.

Caleb McAlister (15 points) and Ben Seiler (11) led Mascoma. Sean Rostron added eight points. Gilford scored 39 points in the second half to break open a close game.

Mascoma visits Fall Mountain on Tuesday.

NEWMARKET, N.H. — The Mules (12-2) grabbed a season-series sweep of the Lakers (10-3) in a battle of top-four NHIAA Division IV boys basketball squads.

HOLLIS, N.H. — After absorbing an early shock of Hollis 3-pointers, the Marauders (14-1, 15-2) used the Schwarz sisters’ own distance skills as well as strong interior defense to beat the defending NHIAA Division II state champs.

The Cavaliers (10-4 league) hit four 3-pointers in the opening quarter for a 17-15 lead, but Hanover had more than a few answers. Anna Kirkpatrick, Willa Parkins and Julia Golder combined to limit 6-foot-2 Hollis center Erica Atkinson to a single field goal while capably rebounding the basketball. Diana Schwarz (team-high 20 points) hit a key 3-pointer in the third quarter as Hanover built a 45-38 lead; Diana and twin sister Lois Schwarz (seven points) then each added a trifecta in the final stanza as the Marauders scored 25 points in the fourth to pull away.

Maddie McCorkle chipped in 15 points for Hanover’s offense. Parkins and Golder netted seven apiece. Christine Balsamo paced the Cavs with 17 points.

The Marauders host undefeated league leader Kennett on Friday.

PLAISTOW, N.H. — Ten different scorers helped the Raiders (16-1 overall, 13-1 league) handle the Owls.

Rebecca Wright had 16 points and Sally Rainey added 14. Caroline Borger chipped in a career-high 12 points. Anna Wolke had 11 points.

Lebanon visits Pembroke on Wednesday in a makeup game.

Mascoma 42, Gilford 40

GILFORD, N.H. — A career night for Nicole Williams gave the Royals (6-10, 6-12) the impetus for a key NHIAA Division III victory.

Williams sank four 3-pointers and netted a season-high 16 points for Mascoma, which used a 16-6 third quarter to reverse a 17-16 halftime deficit. The rest belonged to the defense, which made life difficult for Gilford shooters all night.

Jordan Henry also hit some key baskets late for Mascoma, finishing with eight points. Michaela Dowd netted seven points and Lizz Pelton finished with six for the Royals, who host Hillsboro-Deering on Tuesday.

NEWMARKET, N.H. — The Lakers (8-8, 9-9) kept up their pursuit of an NHIAA Division IV postseason spot with a narrow road win over the Mules.

Anah Durkee paced Sunapee with nine points. Abby Pollari had a strong all-around effort, scoring seven points, grabbing 10 rebounds and adding eight steals on defense.

SUNAPEE — The Knights (15-4 overall, 13-3 league) knocked Farmington from the ranks of the unbeaten, building a 21-11 lead at halftime and holding on to drop the Tigers to 16-1.

Alexis Matte did the bulk of the damage for Mount Royal with 30 points, including five 3-pointers. Jacinta Hogan added six points. Sophie LaRose pulled down 10 rebounds.

Coach Derek Tremblay praised the defensive effort of Hannah Fraoili, who marked Farmington star Katie Martineau (three points) for most of the game.

SHARON — The Wildcats’ Toni Turner had nine points, teammate Hannah White added eight points and White River Valley picked up the road win.

Sarah Howe also had eight points for the Wildcats (8-7), who visit Woodstock on Monday. Tia Kendall led the Phoenix with eight points.

PITTSBURG, N.H. — The Engineers scored 28 points in the second half to improve to 14-2 on the season.

Emily Prest had 12 points to lead a balanced scoring effort by Woodsville, which led, 16-15 at halftime before finding a scoring touch after the break. McKenzie Dennis added 11 points and Mackenzie Kingsbury had 10 points.

Blue Mountain 54Rivendell 31

ORFORD — Lauren Alley ignited a 20-point first quarter for the VPA Division IV-leading Bucks en route to a game-high 19 points as Blue Mountain (13-1) topped the Raptors (2-11).

Olivia Crum added 11 points for the visitors, who extended a 30-20 halftime lead with a 14-2 third quarter. Emi Hebb had a team-high 13 points for Rivendell, while Casey Ghio contributed six points.

DivingWallace Wins NHIAA Title

DURHAM, N.H. — Hanover junior Amelia Wallace won the NHIAA Division II state diving championship in the title meet at UNH.

Wallace earned 364.0 points, topping teammate Rebekah Rudd in third (259.3) and Sophia May in fourth (234.5).

The Marauders just missed out on a sweep when Kai Renshaw (400.5 points) settled for second behind Dillon O’Connor of St. Thomas (409.3). Hanover’s Ben Hoffer was fourth (309.8) and Thomas Kynor was ninth (216.6).

The D-II swimming championships take place Saturday, also at UNH.

Boys Hockey KUA 5, New Hampton 2

NEW HAMPTON, N.H. — Five different Wildcats scored as Kimball Union (23-4-0) defeated New Hampton.

Sullivan Mack, Brian Carrabes, Arlo Merritt, Zach Taylor and Seth Stadheim scored for KUA, while Tomas Mazura had two assists and Veeti Kohvakka made 23 saves in net.

The Wildcats greet Holderness at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
