LEBANON, PA — George Edward Benoit 72, of Keene NH, passed away following a period of failing health, on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Lebanon Pennsylvania, where he lived out his last eight months.

He was born in Windsor, Vermont, April 28, 1946, the only child of Gretchen O. (Knight) and George Edward Benoit, Sr.

He grew up in Windsor, Vermont, living there for many years, where he worked as a tool and die maker at Cone Blanchard Manufacturing Company as well as other smaller machine shops around the area.

Mr. Benoit moved to Keene 40 years ago. He worked at the former Findings Corporation and then Markem Corporation, retiring from Markem in 2008. After his wife Jane past on February 15, 2010, he moved into Friendship Manor in New Ipswich, NH where he resided until moving into his daughter’s home in PA.

Mr. Benoit enjoyed reading, and it was his favorite pastime since childhood. He loved driving around Keene taking in the beautiful sites of the area and enjoyed helping many people in need along the way.

Survivors include his children, Jennifer Benoit and her husband, Patrick Hawryluk, of Lebanon, PA, Louis Benoit and his wife, Kris, of Keene, NH; grandson Dakota Zach and his wife, Fonda; 4 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Thomas Arrison and his wife, Ann, of Westport, MA, Kelly Arrison of Chester, VT, Andrew Arrison and his wife, Susan, of Walpole, MA, Ellen Arrison of New Salem, MA, Lee Arrison of Newport, NH; two ex-daughters-in-law, Sherri and Margaret; and his ex-wife and mother of his children, Camilla Thibodeau of Bradford, VT.

A memorial service will be held at the Foley Funeral Home of Keene in February at a day and time to be announced.

The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Mr. Benoit’s memory to the Friendship Manor’s Activities Fund, 151 Main Street, New Ipswich, NH 03071.
