A Grafton County grand jury last week indicted Gage Young, 22, on four additional felony charges, including counts of first- and second-degree assault that allege he acted in concert with Hector Correa, the 17-year-old he was with on the night of the shooting in downtown Hanover.
Also brought up with the Friday indictments were felony counts of reckless conduct and falsifying physical evidence.
Young previously was charged with first- and second-degree assault, alleging he fired the single shot at Thomas Elliot, wounding him, among other charges.
He pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges when arraigned on Nov. 5, three days after the shooting.
Also brought up with the indictments, which were sent out on Wednesday, was a misdemeanor prohibited alcohol sales complaint that alleges Young gave alcohol to Correa.
Police say Young, of Oak Ridge Road, fired the shot that struck Elliott, a Massachusetts resident who was visiting a high school classmate who now is at Dartmouth, and then fled the scene in a car driven by Correa. Young, however, has maintained his innocence, saying he wasn’t responsible for the shooting.
He will be arraigned on the new charges on Feb 4. In the meantime, he has a hearing scheduled on pending motions related to evidence in the case on Tuesday.
