MARLOW, NH — Loisanne Foster, age 75, passed away on January 18, 2019, following a long illness. She is the daughter of Herman and Lula Sargent of Walpole, N.H. and widow of Clifford A. Foster.

Raised in Walpole, N.H., she received a B. Ed. Degree at Keene State College and held graduate degrees at Keene State College and Dartmouth College. Her lifetime passion for teaching was manifested in her many teaching roles. For thirty-five years, she taught courses such as English, Remedial Reading, Creative Writing, American Studies, and Humanities at Stevens High School in Claremont, N.H. On retirement from full-time teaching, she learned Braille to work with a blind student for several years and then continued teaching part time as a para-professional for eight years in a special program for teens from which she retired in 2014. She has also taught evenings at River Valley Community College in Claremont, N.H.

Loisanne was an active member of the Marlow Historical Society, serving in several offices, and working with the children at Perkins School to increase their knowledge and interest in local history. An avid writer, she had articles, poetry, and short stories published in literary journals, magazines, and anthologies. She enjoyed writing plays and skits for local performance. In recent years, she also enjoyed watercolor painting with the Marlow Art Colony.

Loisanne was a gentle, thoughtful person, always reaching out to those in need. She was generous and kind, not wanting to take credit for her many charitable acts. For many years she provided crocheted hats, books, and toys to numerous shelters, hospitals, and schools. She loved nature and did her part to protect the environment.

She leaves a sister, Rosemary Deering of Walpole, N.H. and a nephew, Daniel Deering of Portsmouth, N.H. and many cousins.

There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Marlow, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bobby Fund for pets whose owners cannot afford proper veterinary care: Westminster Animal Hospital, Route 5, PO Box 90, Westminster Station, VT 05159.
