Newport — The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office is responding to Newport this morning to investigate the cause of a fire that gutted a single-family home on Laurel Street. 

Newport Police Chief Jim Burroughs said no one was injured in the fire, which broke out Sunday night. 

It took crews nearly three hours to get the fire under control, Burroughs said. 

The home is a total loss.
