SOUTH ROYALTON, VT — Anna B. “Ann” Eaton, 93 died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her home in South Royalton, VT.

She was born June 24, 1925 in Lebanon, NH the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Carter) Beaulac. She grew up in Randolph, VT where she helped her father hay and deliver milk for Beaulac’s Dairy. In 1943 she graduated from Randolph High School and later attended the University of Vermont, graduating in 1950. While attending U.V.M. she met Clifford Eaton of South Royalton while playing in the U.VM. band, and they were married on June 18, 1949. Following college they made their home in South Royalton before moving back to Burlington in 1963. A few years later they returned to South Royalton to make their home and raise their family.

Ann was very busy raising their children and helping her husband, Cliff in whatever job that needed doing. She considered herself a “gofer” that would deliver materials to construction sites or parts for heavy equipment, a cook at Eaton’s Sugarhouse in Royalton, VT and sold Vermont cheese and maple products at trade shows in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Long Island, NY. She was also a substitute teacher in South Royalton, Burlington, Williston and Colchester, VT.

She was past president of the South Royalton Women’s Club, an active board member of the South Royalton Senior Center and past Cub Scout Den leader. She continued her involvement with music and enjoyed playing the drums in the South Royalton Town Band. She participated and organized many church women’s activities such as the annual church smorgasbord and suppers. Ann was a South Royalton High School sports enthusiast and never missed any of her children’s games.

She enjoyed spending time at their camp on Lake Winnipesaukee with family and friends, camping at Ocean Park, Maine and traveling cross country to Alaska. For many winters, Ann and Cliff spent their winter months camping in Florida but would leave by early spring to start their maple sugaring season in Vermont. They also enjoyed many years of dancing to the Keynotes. Ann will be missed by so many for her kindness and happy nature.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clifford Eaton of South Royalton, VT; three sons, Jim Eaton and wife Maggie of East Montpelier, VT, Kevin Eaton and wife Jeanine of East Corinth, VT and Brian Eaton and wife Lydia of Moultonborough, NH; a daughter, Patty Steffen and husband Mark of South Royalton, VT; 7 grandchildren, Brendan and Sarah Eaton, Michael and Melissa Eaton, Mia and her husband Ryan Paronto, Eleanor and Elizabeth Eaton; and sister-in-law Katrina Eaton Sleeper and her husband Bill. She was predeceased by an infant son.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT RT 110, Chelsea, VT. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of South Royalton, On the Green, South Royalton, VT. The spring burial will be held at a later date at the Havens Cemetery in South Royalton, VT.
