Hanover — With junior Ian Sistare throwing down a career-high 21 points, the Dartmouth College men’s basketball team shook off a poor end to the first half to record a 76-68 victory over New Hampshire at Leede Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Big Green (9-6) won for the fifth time in six games but only after giving away a double-digit first-half lead. When Jordan Reed sank a 3-pointer with 13:40 to play, UNH (2-11) held a 49-41 lead, its largest of the game, but Dartmouth dominated the close of the contest.

Sistare did most of his damage at the foul line, converting 12 of 14 free throws and sinking all nine charity-stripe attempts in the second half. Chris Knight worked the inside for 17 points for the Big Green.

Sophomore Andrease Jackson got the game off to a loud start, converting an alley-oop dunk for the game’s first basket and adding another on a give-and-go with Knight as Dartmouth opened up a 24-12 lead. UNH closed it to 35-33 by halftime, then shut the Big Green down while reeling off eight straight points early in the second half to take the lead.

With Knight scoring twice down low, Dartmouth tied the game at 52-52. Knight put the Big Green ahead to stay on a jump shot with 5:38 left, and Aaryn Rai followed with a 3-pointer for a 61-56 cushion UNH wouldn’t erase.
