BETHEL, VT — Elmer Lee Amsden died December 1st 2018 at Gifford Medical Center.
Elmer was born June 21, 1925 in Bethel VT; the son of Elmer Lee Amsden, Sr. and S. Udavilla Snelling. After graduating from Whitcomb High School in 1944 he enlisted in the Army. In 1945 he married Mary Louise Campbell. They were married for 73 years their union produced Three children Ronald and Bruce Amsden and Stephanie Parkinson.
During the 1960’s Elmer worked for Waterbury Companies in Randolph. In the 1970’s he ended his working life with the U.S. Postal Service. As a child of the Depression he could repair anything. After retiring he bought a book on caning chairs and taught himself to cane. Overtime, he caned several hundred chairs.
There are no calling hours. A service will be held Friday, June 1, 2019 at 11am at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT. Online condolences may be made at www.dayfunerals.com. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home.
