LEBANON, NH — Shirley Anne Bayerle, 88, passed away at home on Sunday, November 26, 2018. She was born October 8, 1930 to Edith (Fay) and Asa Randall, the youngest of twelve children. Shirley grew up in Richmond, VT, graduating from Burlington High School in 1947. She graduated with her R.N. from the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She married Frank H. Bayerle, whom she met while working at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, in Richmond, VT on April 24, 1954. In 1970 upon finishing Nurse Practitioner Training, Shirley became the first Nurse Practitioner to work at Mary Hitchcock. She earned a B.S. in Psychology from Nathaniel Hawthorne College in 1983. Shirley retired from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center October 8, 1992.
Shirley was an avid quilter, many of her quilts becoming Christmas presents or gifts for new parents. Every Tuesday she met with her quilting friends. When she wasn’t quilting she could be found reading a good book. Shirley and her husband enjoyed riding their bicycles and hiking in the great outdoors. The couple spent several years traveling the country with their camper.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Frank Bayerle of Lebanon, NH; sons, Eric Bayerle of White River Junction, VT and Peter (Penny) Bayerle of Lexington, KY; grandson, Jeff (Sarah) Bayerle of Lexington, KY; granddaughter, Kayci (Matt) Searle of White River Junction, VT; and great-grandson, Jack Henry Bayerle of Lexington, KY.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Edith Randall.
No public services are planned.
Shirley’s family requests that memorial donations in her name be made to Bayada Hospice, P.O. Box 1590, Norwich, VT 05055-1590.
