TUNBRIDGE, VT — Patricia Jean (Cizek) Platenik 89,died in her home in Tunbridge, Vermont with her loving family by her side on November 19, 2018. Patricia was born at her home in West Springfield, MA on November 22, 1928 to Eila Mae (Darby) and Robert William Cizek. She attended Vermont Junior College to study music, where she met her lifelong friend Sheila Scallion. Patricia married her childhood sweetheart Joseph John Platenik in 1946 and raised a family of six children. She was a dedicated loving mother and wife who cherished her family. Patricia was lovingly called “Nana” not only by her twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren but by the many family friends that had come to know and love her through the years. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her wit, the joy she both gave and received playing her piano, and her unconditional love and warmth.

Patricia was predeceased by both her parents, her sister, Jacqueline Airey, brother, Robert Cizek, her loving husband Joseph and her son Mark Platenik. She leaves three daughters, Donna Price of Indian Head, MD, Pat Read & husband Stephen of Tunbridge, VT, Kim Platenik-Furlong & wife Carolyn of Tunbridge, VT; two sons Joseph Platenik Jr. & wife Millie of Brockton, MA and Keith Platenik & wife Mary of North Hampton, NH; grandchildren Sean & wife Lisa, Kelly & husband Glen, Joseph III & wife Samantha, Leah, Josh & wife Meghan, Jake, Matt, Bekki & husband Jayson, Nathan, Nicole, Kalene & husband Stephen and Chelsea; step grandchildren, Peter & wife Sandra, Laura & husband Asa; great grandchildren Julia, Alexis, Ashley, Joseph IV, Jesse, William, Kylie, Zachary and Nicholas with one more on his way; step great grandchildren Sydney, Rye & Theo and many loving nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at Saint Martin Episcopal Church in Fairlee,VT on December 1st at 11:00 followed by a reception at her family’s home at 106 Gilley Road in Tunbridge. Our family requests a donation to BAYADA Hospice of Norwich, VT be given in lieu of flowers. We were blessed to have their skilled and gentle care for Mom in her final days.
