West Lebanon, NH — Janet M. Demers, age 85, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She was born in Manchester, NH on February 24, 1933 to Roseanne (Guillmette) and Lucien Descoteaux. Janet grew up on Chestnut Street, and graduated from Manchester Central. After High School, she earned her teaching degree from Plymouth State College. She loved to teach. She taught in numerous towns in New Hampshire, including Nashua, Hollis, and Milford. She then devoted the majority of her teaching career to the Hartford, VT Middle School. After retiring from Hartford Middle School, she enjoyed working at the Maxfield Parrish Museum in Cornish, NH. Janet was an avid painter and entered her paintings in art shows around the Upper Valley. She was also a devout Christian, and weekly attended Sunday service’s and Bible Study.
Janet is survived by her children, Mary Rita (Frank) Vickery of Chicago, IL, Phyllis Ann Demers of Pennington, NJ, David R.(Cheryl) Demers, Sr. of Lebanon, NH, Thomas (Saima) W. Demers and his stepson, Roman, of Burlington, KY, and Rene J. Demers of Enfield, NH; grandchildren, David, Jr., Jessica, and Destiny Demers; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Beatrice, Rene, Louis, Rita, Theresa, and Celia.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 P.M. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon. Janet’s memorial service will begin at 5 pm at the funeral home, immediately following calling hours.
