They wanted answers about the loved ones they lost to the opioid crisis.
“It’s definitely a crisis that our country is facing in a huge way. There are so many people who have lost loved ones,” Rainbow said. “The opioid crisis is bringing in a lot of young people who have lost friends.”
Rainbow, a New Hampshire-based medium, will be at the Claremont Opera House on Friday at 7 p.m. to talk about mediumship and, she says, to connect audience members with departed loved ones. Tickets are $25. The event is recommended for people age 18 and older; if younger, they should attend with an adult.
“She really does give people a peace of mind when they leave the room, whether they make a connection or not,” said Jim Roach, who has been Rainbow’s manager for about a decade. “This is a gift Lauren has and she really wants to help people.”
Rainbow says those who are grieving experience a sense of ease when she connects them to departed loved ones.
“Not everybody who has crossed over from the opioid crisis is suicidal,” she said. “I think that spirits are always trying to let everyone here know that they’re OK.”
Rainbow said it’s the sixth or seventh time she’ll be visiting the opera house.
“I love old opera houses and theaters,” she said. “It has a good vibe.”
During the show, which runs about an hour and a half, dozens of messages could come through, she says. Rainbow has traveled around the world as a medium and has been practicing for 17 years.
“Energetically, the room will be full of spirits,” she said. “It’s not all about tears and sadness. It’s meant to be uplifting.”
Rainbow welcomes those skeptical of mediumship to attend.
“For me, a skeptic is someone who is open minded enough to come see a show. I welcome skeptics to come and witness and experience,” Rainbow said, emphasizing that she is not there to change anyone’s belief system. “We’ve had complete skeptics come in who are not sure what they want to believe. The show is a really great way to experience moments of evidence.”
In the last decade, Rainbow has witnessed a heightened interest in mediumship.
“There’s been an explosion of people’s awareness shifting,” she said. “I believe they’re seeking to learn, connect and share these insights with other people which is quite beautiful.”
So much in the world — from natural disasters to the political climate — have resulted in people searching for something beyond themselves.
“I think people are just wanting to seek something more than themselves to bring healing, guidance, and support in their own life,” Rainbow said. “It could be a really healing and life-affirming experience.”
