Burlington — The Dartmouth College women’s basketball team aced its first road test of the season on Sunday, routing Vermont, 66-42, at Patrick Gymnasium.

Senior Isalys Quinones had the big day for the Big Green (2-0), scoring 22 points, grabbing seven rebounds and contributing three steals. Sophomore Anna Luce set a new career high with 13 points and six rebounds on 6-for-8 shooting. “Really proud of our team effort today, Dartmouth coach Belle Koclanes said. “We have been emphasizing the defensive side of the coin, and we wanted to learn from Friday night (a 54-41 home win over Loyola of Maryland) by being more aggressive and having our defense generate our offense.

“Total team effort. Everyone had a chance to play, and it was great to see our freshmen out there.“ Vermont is great team and program and we were able to play our game today.” Koclanes continued.”

The Catamounts (1-1) opened an 8-2 lead on slow-to-start Dartmouth before the Big Green’s offense kicked into gear. Kealy Brown hit two free throws and a 3-pointer to keep Dartmouth within 13-7 with 2:38 left in the first quarter.

The Big Green used a 12-0 run spanning the first and second periods to get going. Katie Douglas’ 3-pointer and a Quinones jumper capped the charge, and Dartmouth took that 19-15 lead and extended it to 35-22 by halftime. The Big Green outscored UVM in the second quarter, 23-7, to put the game away.

The Big Green takes a break until playing Middle Tennessee State at the UNLV Lady Rebel Roundup on Nov. 24.
