Jarell Washington, 29, of Burlington, was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after the men’s 2010 Kia sedan left the southbound side of the highway around 10:45 a.m., entered the median and flipped onto its roof, according to an updated news release from Vermont State Police.
Washington was ejected from the vehicle. An autopsy is pending.
Saul Brown, 36, also of Burlington, suffered life-threatening injures in the crash.
Brown was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment. A spokesman on Friday said he wasn’t authorized to release information on Brown’s condition.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, in part to determine which man was operating the vehicle, the release said.
