White River Junction — Longtime businessman Ken Parker has sold his White River Junction insurance agency to Kinney Pike Insurance, the firms said in a news release.

Parker, who founded Parker Insurance Agency in 1972 and has been at the same location on Gates Street in White River Junction for 45 years, has joined Kinney Pike and “will work with them on a reduced scale.”

Kinney Pike, founded in 1904, has seven locations in Vermont, including White River Junction. Firm principal Justin Barwood, a principal in Kinney Pike, said in a news release that “Ken Parker’s agency has an exceptional reputation and long history in the Upper Valley” and “our business philosophies are in alignment.”

Parker, a former selectman in Hartford, said the two firms represent several of the same carriers. His agency’s staff will continue to work for the combined firm, and clients will not see any disruption in service.
