Ryan Carroll led the Cyclones with four goals during a match in which just about everything went the home team’s way. Five other players scored single goals in support of shutout goalkeepers Sebastian Keen and Wyatt Daigle.
The Cyclones visit Connecticut River FC in their next match on Saturday.
U13 Fever Falls in Debut
Concord, Mass.
Noah Winchester scored in the first half off a pass from Ian Press for the Fever, which grabbed its other goal in the second half through Cabot McLaren on a Zach Tracy pass. Charlie Forbush, Sixten Nowlan and Max McColgan settled down on defense after an initial Metro Elite assault, and Adam Goodney and Otto Bourne got LSC’s offense in gear to set up Winchester’s strike.
Henry Cotter tended net for the Fever.
U11 Surge Does Just That
Meriden
Katharine Moseley slotted home a pass from Kayleigh Ferland to get the Surge on the board. Ailan Van Dolah doubled the lead and nearly added a second moments later with a shot off the crossbar.
Annabel des Cognets set up Joanna Bujarksi in the second half to close LSC’s scoring before Oyster River notched a consolation strike. The Surge is off this weekend before heading to Pembroke in two weeks.
U14 Storm Draws
Gloucester, Mass.
The Storm leveled a Seacoast strike with a 35-yard free kick from Ashton Cunningham and took the lead early in the second half when Nolan McMahon finished a Ryder Hayes pass. The lead held until the final two minutes when Seacoast converted on a corner kick.
U11 Thunder Booms
Meriden
Brayden Smith struck for a hat trick for the Thunder, getting assists from Ben Ames, Shawn Walker and Ryan McLaughlin. Patrick Fitzpatrick provided the other two goals, one on a 50-yard dribble run and the other on a pass from Walker.
Micah Jacobs made 10 saves in the LSC net, with McLaughlin and Ronan Przydzielski marshalling the defense.
U10 Hurricanes Go 0-1-1
Meriden
The Canes played Best FC Elite to a 2-2 draw in their opening game on Sunday. Jesse Madory and Nate McFetridge provided the goals, and forwards Sasha Palm, Finn McColgan, Colin McLaughlin, Angus Newcomb and Yuvraj Sathe all had quality scoring chances. Owen Medved, Matt Lepene, Nolan Bourn, Sumner Finley and Jamie Coughlin starred in defensive roles.
LSC fell in its other contest, 4-1, to GPS Boston Metro West. Sasha Palm had LSC’s goal, while Finley and Bourn handled the goalkeeping chores.
U10 Bolts Split
Lancaster, Mass.
The Bolts improved considerably following a slow start to the first half of the match against Valeo. Declan Donegan had LSC’s goal, assisted by Jacob Lepene.
It all went much better in the second contest against GPS. Lepene scored twice, Donegan scored once and Jared Bingham finished with an assist.

Fall Foliage Ride
Newbury, Vt.
The trip along the CVT begins at Kettle Pond in Groton State Forest and will continue to Blue Mountain Union High School in Wells River. Sign-in begins at 9:30 a.m., and the ride gets going at 10 a.m. following a bike check.
The route, covering just less than 20 miles, heads past Groton Lake and Ricker Pond as well as along the shores of the Wells River, with plenty of mountain views and plenty of colorful foliage along the way.

Paddle the Border
Newbury, Vt.
The trip, which should take about 3½ hours to complete, begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Newbury Boat Launch near the Haverhill-Newbury Bridge, finishing at Bugbee Landing beside the Bradford Golf Club. A free shuttle service from Bradford to Newbury will be available between 10-11 a.m. to ferry people and their equipment to the launch site. The trip ends with a barbecue lunch provided by the Woodsville-Wells River Rotary Club.

Lions Club 5K at Storrs

The race begins at noon, with registration starting at 10:30 a.m. The start and finish will be at Area 1 near the picnic pavilion. Parking is available near the pond and swimming pool. Entry forms are available the day of the race or can be filled out in advance by visiting hanoverxc.weebly.com.
The cost to run is $20 for adults and $5 for youths ages 17 and younger. All proceeds from the race will go toward the Norwich Lions Club Community Service Fund, which has been helping community support for more than 60 years.

The race begins at 10 a.m. at the Dothan Brook School Halloween costumes are encouraged for all participants, and runners and walkers are both welcome. The day includes face painting, food and music for all.

Ascutney Outdoors CenterOpening Celebration

The building, part of the former Mount Ascutney ski lodge, has been under construction over the past year; once completed, it will serve as the focal point of activities at the mountain in the future. Designed to operate as a community center, the organization anticipates the center will provide opportunities for a wide array of uses once it opens.
The official dedication is set for 4 p.m. Prior to that, visitors will be able to get a taste of what Ascutney Outdoors has to offer with activities including guided hikes, mountain bike tours and horseback trail rides, an outdoor yoga class and a guided nature walk for children. Food, drink and live music will follow the dedication and continue into the evening.

The boys’ sessions will run on Wednesdays from Sept. 19-Oct. 31, while girls’ sessions are going to be on Thursdays from Sept. 20-Nov. 1. Both groups will have the gym to themselves from 6-7:30 p.m.

VBCA Scramble

The tournament features an 18-hole scramble for four-player teams at a cost of $300 per team, which includes golf, power carts, lunch and the chance to win prizes. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with a 10 a.m. tee-off. Prizes will be available for longest drive and closest to the pin, and mulligans will also be for sale.

Hartford Hockey Open

The tournament consists of four-member teams playing an 18-hole scramble competition. All levels of golf experience are welcome, and players are invited to create their own foursomes for the event. The team entry fee of $240 includes greens fees and carts for each player along with an opportunity to win prizes followed by a post-tournament dinner.
A shotgun start of noon kicks off the action, with dinner and prizes to follow at 4:30 p.m. The tournament will be held rain or shine. Proceeds from the day will go toward the Hartford hockey program.
