“We did air sampling and it seems to come back OK,” said White River Valley Supervisory Union Superintendent Bruce Labs.
A roofing contractor has been working on the problem area — which is limited to a section of entranceway roof above the principal’s office — and officials said it is safe for students to return.
Administrators at Tunbridge Central School sent students home early on Friday after a test “determined that there could possibly be mold present near the roof.”
Students stayed home today, while teachers prepared to have classes in Chelsea if needed, but they will all return to Tunbridge on Wednesday, Labs said. As it happens, most students are slated to take a field trip on Wednesday.
