Cornish — Celebrate the waning days of summer by attending the 69th annual Cornish Fair, which begins Friday.

The three-day event takes place at the Cornish Fairgrounds, located at 294 Town House Road. Last year, an estimated 19,000 people attended.

“Agriculture is still a centerpiece of the fair,” said Eric Atwood, vice president of the fair.

Activities also include carnival rides, live music and lots of animals.

The fair is entirely run and organized by volunteers. This year, there are more than 100 signed up though Atwood said they’re always looking for more.

“We’ve been lucky so far to have people, but we‘re trying to recruit some younger people,” Atwood said.
