White River Junction — The owner of a snowmobile tour company in Vermont has pleaded no contest to a charge that he enabled a minor employee’s consumption of alcohol on the night the 20-year-old died.

Michael Lynds of Snowmobile Vermont let Stephen Titus, of Reading, drink after work with other employees at the tour company’s shop in March 2017 in Plymouth, Vt., according to an affidavit in the case.

Titus then left the business on his snowmobile on the evening of March 19 and was found dead by co-workers and friends the following morning on a portion of a trail in Reading.

Lynds, 51, of Bridgewater Corners, entered his plea to the misdemeanor enabling charge in March. He was handed a suspended two- to six-month sentence and was placed on probation, court documents indicate.
