Quechee, Vt. —
Neil was born July 18, 1922 in Lynn, Mass. a son of Harolt T. and Florence (MacDonald) Crockett. Neil grew up in Lynn and Graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1940. Neil graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y. and entered the Merchant Marines as an Ensign and was a navigator during WWII upon his honorable discharge he went to work for Exxon on the oil takers traveling all around the world. He was married to Margaret Millerick in 1946. He purchased the Paper Store in Hamilton, Mass., operating it for many years until retiring in the mid 1980’s when he moved to Quechee. Neil loved people and enjoyed keeping busy so he worked at the Woodstock Inn, he also worked for a time as a limo driver.
Neil is a proud 62 year member of St. John’s Lodge #1 AYM F&AM.
He was a board member of the DPW and was a call firefighter well living in Hamilton. He never acted his age and loved walking his dogs and sailing. He also enjoyed traveling and made it around the world at least once while working in the shipping industry and trips to places he was unable to port while working.
He is predeceased by his wife 40 year to the day of his death and a sister Elizabeth Garden.
He is survived by his two children, Neil T. Crockett of Berwick, Maine and Margaret Ann Crockett of S.C., and his friend and companion of many years Linda Howe.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 2, 2018, at the Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Mass. at 1 p.m. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction assisted with arrangements. An online guestbook can be found at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
