Milligan is the former president and CEO of the Cape and Islands United Way in Massachusetts, where she managed an annual campaign of more than $1.2 million and spearheaded partnerships that strengthened the organization within its community. Milligan has also served as president and CEO of Highfield Hall and Gardens, a historic estate in Falmouth, Mass.; as executive director of the Cape Cod Children’s Museum in Mashpee, Mass.; and as director and curator of the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth in Massachusetts.
Her background in historic site and museum management made her the ideal candidate for Billings Farm & Museum, Executive Director David Simmons said in a news release.
“Bobbie’s experience and dynamism will factor significantly as we broaden our reach, community engagement, and the special experiences we offer to our guests,” he said.
For Milligan, who visited the farm when her sons were young, the job is an exciting opportunity.
“As a descendant of generations of farmers, a spinner and practitioner of domestic arts, and passionate champion of open space and preservation, I left there thinking … this is my place, this is my dream job,” she said.
